as promised

It's 10:16 a.m. Just got here in the faculty room. Ange and Mel fortunately had business to do here so KB and me got a hassle-free ride from their apartment. Last night went fine. Here goes the exciting details...

4:30 p.m. Arrived at #13. The two boys were rowdy and wrecking the house as usual. Aunt
Emy's threatening the two boys all sorts of things. Of course, they didn't listen to
hear. I watched twelve kingdoms, preparing my things in between commercials.
Took a shower andleft.

7 p.m. Took the bus, had an uneventful 30-minute ride to Ortigas. Took a jeep to Ash Creek.
From there, walked all the way to KC and KB's apartment.

past 8 Karen opened the gate for me---taragis...kailangan ko ba tlgang gawin ito?! Lech.

Here's what happened I'll be excluding the more boring stuff and just get on with the..um..boring parts.

When I arrived--feeling hot and sweaty all over ( remember I walked from Ash Creek to J. de Mesa since I did not took a cab), only KB, Oliver (the couple's friend from work) and Emman was there. I immediately thought how incredibly different this night is going to be from our other get-togethers. I'm being sarcastic here, of course. The only people expected to arrive soon are Ange and Mel. That's it. The usual suspects, the practicum group. Lyn, Pj, and KD bailed out. KC had to supervise another recollection and will be home around 12 mn. So, all in all, it was a great turn out. We had to wait until around 9:15 for the two because they went to Malate. Meanwhile, I got started with the videoke with the guys and listen to my stomach slowly eat itself. It was hot and I was hungry. Don't want to eat ahead of the rest just like KB suggested. This is a party remember? So I settled with a sandwich and Quake.

We had dinner when EVERYONE was finally there. The usual ribbings and alipustahan of each other and other people kept everyone in a good mood and I thought the night was progressing well. Oliver, who we met the first time, didn't look as if he was feeling out of place and if he did, well, I don't care. It was fun being with friends again and I was revelling in this thought when they started talking about Pinoy Big Brother and turned on the tv. "You all watch that?!?!?!?!" I asked incredously. "Yeah, it's actually entertaining, " one of them replied. Mel, who I knew do not watch said half-jokingly, "Tara, nood rin tayo para in!" I don't remember what my reaction was, I think I pretended to laugh. The conversation, naturally, begun to revolve around the lives of the stupid people in the show. I asked some questions, feigning interest while my disappointment level slowly rise. When everyone seemed done eating I took advantage of the opportunity and helped Noel clean up the table. I was overflowing with enthusiasm as I wiped the table and cleaned soem parts of their crappy kitchen.

Yes, I do watch some tv shows that have no intellectual benefits of any sort and which entertainment value is appropriate for 10 year-olds but that Big Brother show is much, much worse and just way below my tolerance level. It's so lame, it's lamer than Darna at it's lamest. I'm not being a hypocrite or nagmamagaling or whatever. I just couldn't stand it. Period. Just when I thought I was successfully brushing off feelings of extreme annoyance, Oliver, I think...or one of them good friends of mine said I actually look a like Cas, who they told me as they point her out on the tv screen, one of characters that gets a lot of bashing. How nice. There was more half-assed joking about how we appear to be in Big Brother's house

Was coming here a good idea at all?

When the show was over, we started with the videokea nd the drinking. Fetched KC in xavier (Ange, KD and me) then took turns in the shower. That's basically how the night went on. It was getting late and one by one the kids started drifting off to sleep. Actually, Mel, being the narcoleptic that she is, was immediately uncommunicable the moment her butt hit the sofa. So picture this: One of us was belting out a really good song like "cuando, cuando, cuando, cuando (just how many cuando's are really there?)", another was in the shower, one was giving out the shots, the rest was trying to sing along, throw loads of insults to whoever was singing, talk and laugh about the usual stuff while finding a comfortable position to sleep. I, on the other hand, was able to find a good book from Tito Butch's shelf while contemplating about Mandy with Ange and Mel. By this time, Oliver has left, KC had gone up to sleep (she has to return to the recollection early in the morning), KD and Noel were sleeping on the couch.

Ange pointed out again how we all look like living in Big Brother's house. This time, I had to laugh.

The showdown left with only Ange and me standing. We had complete monopoly of the videoke but eventually the fun wore out. We have been singing the same stupid songs whenever we go to ktv and it wasn't funny anymore. Since we didn't want to sleep yet (hey, the night is young) we started looking for dvd's to watch. We contemplated on CSI but figured that we won't comprehend anything with our semi-drunken state and just settled with a no-brainer. Ice Princess. Cool. We injected the movie with conspiracies of sorts to make it even more exciting. We finished off around 4 a.m.

Woke up around 7 a.m. , we had to leave around 9, everyone's got plans for the day. Helped prepare breakfast. BREAKFAST consisted of leftover pasta, fishballs, squidballs and coffee. This post-party scene is probably the most worthwhile detail. I was the one who cooked the squid/fishballs fo Ange and Mel. I don't know how to relate this in a way that it will truly show how hilarious the scene was. I am such a poor story teller. Anyway, this was what happened:

After much contemplation, Noel and I decided I should cook the balls for the two and he'll hit the showers first. He told me to fry in the pan which had very thin surface. The balls got burnt. Not completely, though, definately still edible. But the house was filled with smoke!!! Ange, Mel and KB kept saying things like, "Patay na ba ako?!/Am I dead?/Sunog! Sunog!" And everyone started laughing, coughing and choking. I thought Mel would have an asthma attack. I was laughing hysterically the whole time. It was really funny. They were hurling all sorts of insults (good-naturedly, of course) I was practically in stitches. Mel said she have another tale to add to my series of anthologies to share with the other counselors and reminded everyone of the burnt boiled egg I had for my baon once when I was in college. I am the best cook in the world.

So there.
